Default Tales from the halls

This is a little piece to set the mood for my post:
Quote:
I watch the life bar so carefully as my fingers hover above the number keys on my keyboard. Looking down I notice my skills have become full and vibrant with light! I quickly hit buttons and wtahc the life bar of this Ghostly Hero ratchet down further and further. Finally it reaches an end. It is overcome by a dull shade of Blue as I scream in joy over my Logitech Headset. I look up to see the Ghostly Hero which dawns our colors stand proudly in the center of the alter. As I select him, I see that beautiful Claim Resource skill pop up. Looking at the clock I see only 20 seconds remaining! All seems to be falling into place. The skill fades away into the numbers across the screen, but I see no announcement of alter attunement. Our Ghostly Hero is laying on his ass! No, people are interrupting him! I quickly cycle through the sleu of enemies to find a ranger, and I hear it again. That sharp clicking noise. He's getting interrupted! I finally find a ranger, and run to him to begin laying my knockdowns on him. I am successful! I lay this ranger out for what feels like an eternity. All the while I'm waiting for that beautiful message to display on our screen. The pixelated crack which I fight for day in and day out....it never appears. Everyone drops with a multitude of groans that tugs at my heart. "The Sissy Boys have won the Hall of Heroes. blah blah blah favor of the gods for America blah blah blah." NOOOOOO!
I just got the closest that I have ever gotten to winning the Hall of Heroes for the entire duration of this game. Our team lost to the Sissy Boys, but just by a hair. One skill away from taking the fabled Hall, and accomplishing the greatest feat in the game. After we had lost and returned to the Tombs lobby, I whispered what seemed to be the leader of the group (A fellow by the name of "I Sell Sigils P S T") and asked him for his veteren HoH observations on the performance of our team, and he informed me that we did indeed come very close to winning. What had kept us from claiming that alter was the Gale that they had used on our Hero.

Even though I didn't win the HoH, I was so happy to have gotten that far. My team was very organized and we had no bad people that made mistakes all the time. That's pretty rare for a semi-PUG (we had partied before a couple times) So us getting to the HoH at midnight PST Saturday night while the Sissy Boys were there, simply amazed me. I had such a wonderful feeling that I just wanted to share this with at least someone.

I know I'll get the obligatory flames of "anyone can get into HoH at the right time" and whatnot, but I don't care. I initially made this thread to get all of this out of my system since my guildies weren't online when this all happened. Then, I thought people would see this as me bragging. I don't want people to see it as that, I just want them to know that there still are people like me that get as gitty as a school girl when they get to the HoH (legitimately, not using the "trick") and come ever-so-close to winning it.

So this post doesn't get seen as a bragging post, I would like for others to share their HoH experiences. You seasoned vets, maybe share some of your thoughts and experiences when you weren't numbed to winning the HoH and still saw it as an unobtainable goal.

P.S. I graduated to rank 3 on this run too!

I posted how casual my team held the HoH 5 times (and eventually 14 times in a row), so gratz to you!
As long as these threads don't imply bragging, they're a sun ray to all normal players who have a life and "weren't there from the beta"

Don't worry about probable incoming flames like "hey, I could hold the HoH with my hands tied, whats so special about you, you noob?", because some people will try and bring you down for sure.

Just ignore the elitist idiots and enjoy the game.

Gratz again!

i got a good tale

the other day i was in a really good team. we were on the "capture the altar" level. just as we were completely thrashing the yellow team we were fighting, one of our healing monks dropped out of the game

after this happened, all of a sudden my party lost it's advantage and eventually all of them died except me (possibly because i was the only warrior)

i ran out of harm's way. and then typed publically that the yellow team was a bunch of newbies who were getting owned until our monk dropped. this had exactly the intended effect; it gave red the confidence to go fight yellow. something they were reluctant to do beforehand. as they were fighting i came around the other side with my team's res orb, and boom... a few seconds later all my party is back up

at this point we ended up beating on both teams a bit and then captured the altar at the right moment. we were able to hold the altar and win that match.

it was totally hilarious. yellow had counted my team out. they knew i was the only one alive and they figured they'd just leave me alone and kill me later. talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

after i called the yellow team newbies to instigate red to fight them; then yellow replied with all sorts of things saying how my team sucked and that they were owning us the whole time. this just made our eventual victory over them all the sweeter

unfortunately this story has a very sad ending. because on the next level, the game gave us Reyna Archer Henchman to replace our lost healing monk. what the heck is up with that?! you'd think they'd give us a healing henchman since we lost a healer

we lost on the next level mainly because of that handicap.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure why it gives you an archer henchman instead of the class of the person that dropped.

I had an experience on the Capture the Alter map, where my team claimed the alter first, and then one team came in and we killed them all. it was a pretty bad slaughter. Well, the other team that had been waiting silently finally came out from their hiding spot. All of the sudden, I see my entire parties life bars drop a hug chunk all at once. It jumped down again a few more times until we were all killed in a matter of 3 or 4 seconds. The team spammed putrid explosion! >.<

It was funny though.

short time before the second beta ended my team has had like 15 consecutive wins in the hallf of heroes (with only 2 beta accounts on our team) , and im no beta account, so it was a honourable beta end for me

We almost beat the Sissy Boys in the hall as a team of 6 monks (4 smiters) and 1 air el. Our hero got body blocked from capping the centre, though =/.

Go you, Dude! I too have seen the inside of the hall, though I've never won 14 times in a row. :-P

I managed some how to get to the HoH once! It was a spectular defeat by the koreans, but it was cool to finally get there (only play PvP very casual/rarely).
